The Sims 3: Lifting the fog a bit more!

MaXsiM on 29. March 2008 | 9 Comments | Trolls and Spammers stay out.

The Sims 3 LogoDid you know that they sold 98mio. copies of “The Sims” and “The Sims 2″? All in all, worldwide? That’s much more than “World of Warcraft” or any other game. Respect!

The only problem is that EA Games/Maxis can do what they want; even a terribly made “The Sims 3″ would be a big success…

But before we get too critical better let me lift the fog a little bit more for you, i have news about “The Sims 3″.

Newbies, please note that there is a whole “The Sims 3″ Category on this site where you will find more posts about “The Sims 3″.

The AI is not working yet

What’s AI? It’s the (artificial) intelligence of the Sims. How they react on your orders, what they decide to do or not to do, how much fun it is to play with them…

You know, they often get on your nerves because they are just too stupid. They cancel an important activity and shout at you the same time because they want to finish the same action. All those annoying stuff.

The Sims 3 can cook together

Maxis, the developer studio, promises that “The Sims 3″ will be much more intelligent. They will be able to do things alone and come to better decisions.

3 examples of the improved AI in “The Sims 3″:

  • When 2 Sims talk, other “people” will stand back to not disturb them
  • Sims can do more things together, like cooking
  • With a leveler you can set the time for every activity in the queue

If the new AI will work like expected and makes playing be more fun and less annoying, we only will know after “The Sims 3″ is released (Spring 2009).

At the moment the programmers are still working hard on the code and they still have lots to do.

The new graphic engine of “The Sims 3″

Another important thing is the new look of the Sims. I know that many people are disappointed when they look at the first Sims 3 Screenshots. But i recommend to have another – more intimate – look.

The Sims 3: More details everywhere

Please remember that “The Sims” is no Action-Adventure. It never was and it never will be. “The Sims” has its own style and its own look. And “The Sims 3″ will keep this typical style – but on a higher level.

3 examples of the graphic-evolution in “The Sims 3″:

  • Over and over there will be more polygons = more details
  • There will be a smooth natural day/night alternation
  • Trees and shrubs look much more like trees and shrubs

Apart from these single points it’s a fact that a completely new graphic-engine powers “The Sims 3″…

This is great but also could mean that all 3D-Meshes, Animations and Textures will appear in new formats as well – and the community has to start the whole work from the beginning again…

i’m really looking forward to the sims 3. I’m hoping that the price won’t be too high, as I won’t be able to afford it!
Did you the company have been working on ts3 for over 2 years now! Neat!

  2. MaXsiM says:

Yes, they started working on ts3 quiet shortly after the sims 2 release. Busy guys.
I think the price won’t be higher than other games. It’s expensive, yes, but imagine how long you use the game.

Have you ever had a blue fog surround your sim after drinking the exlir of life. Do you know what it is?

  6. [...] The game’s completely new file-system, the new morphs and in-game color palettes are very different to The Sims 2. Although most sims-fans say that The Sims 3 just look like The Sims 2, it never was my opinion. [...]
