Everybody is talking about twitter nowadays and so you might expect yet another “twitter is the best” post here…
But not so fast. This post is not about twitter. And no, it’s not about Facebook, neither MySpace nor StumbleUpon.
Currently i am spending and enjoying much time on a colorful and friendly niche-site where you can meet calm people and find huge amounts of inspiration.
Today i’m proud to write my first post about koinup.com…
Koinup.com is somewhat of a flickr or deviantart for virtual photos, artworks and any stuff you create in computer games, virtual worlds like Second Life, IMVU and so on. Or the “1st social network dedicated to virtual life and avatars” to say it in their own words.
Creating such cg pictures, movies and storyboards is a most innovative and creative occupation, often much more time intense than shooting a “normal” photograph in reality.
If you are interested in computer generated pictures, as a viewer or a creator, joining koinup.com is a must.
Don’t get me wrong but koinup.com is an European (Italian) project and so it is naturally a bit more tolerant to users who love nude art (it’s obvious that i’m not talking about explicit material).
The koinup community is calm and friendly. I never saw anybody shouting. I also didn’t notice a big spam problem or off-times so far. At this point koinup.com makes much more fun than twitter…
Another double-plus is the fact that the admins don’t treat users like potential criminals and don’t want to know anything about their privacy. What most other social media sites want to know about your bathroom habits is a shame and a sickness.
On koinup.com you tell your gender and – if you want – write a bio, add some skills and interests. That’s it. Your genes and fingerprints stay with you.
There are also a few things i don’t like too much, but they aren’t worth mentioning here in this “all-positive” post ;)
Koinup.com is a gentle giant between all the billion-dollar social media supernovas. So it’s not right to compare koinup with twitter and co. It’s another pair of shoes, a niche-site that works perfectly well – technically and socially.
You can always have a quick look at my latest works right here on mxm-studios.com, look at the dynamic banner in the right sidebar.
Even better, visit my profile here, a must-be for “Dreams of Luisa”-Fans because i am also adding exclusive artwork and photos to my gallery.
Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon on koinup.com, currently my favorite social media site.
