Today i’ve stumbled upon a web service that’s pretty new in the metaverse, since September 10th, 2009, to be exact.
It’s called lifeyo.com and hello’s you with a fancy startpage that offers a free and (almost) fully customizable website. Ah, not only one website. You can create as many as you want.
For a guy like me who loves to run an online empire it’s always cool to open up another site – and so i registered at lifeyo and started creating.
Here’s what i found out…
The main idea behind lifeyo is to make it really easy even for absolute noobs to open a good-looking website and add all kinds of content to it in no time.
You can really run a whole site, write posts like on a blog, open single pages like on a normal website.
lifeyo.com is pretty much drag and drop. Everything is self-explaining. You can freely move around single elements like photos and text. You can even upload stuff per drag and drop…
I’m no fan of such stylish features. I prefer the old-fashioned way, search for files on my computer, mess with the html code…
No problem, lifeyo gives you many possibilities. In fact, it’s not only usable for lazy website beginners, lifeyo also provides you with basic Site Stats and the flexibility to add own code.
Just don’t expect too much. There are limitations, of course. Even the world’s best website template will not be able to fit really anybodies needs. In fact, i never saw a template anywhere, not even on wordpress, that could satisfy me for longer than half an hour.
On the other hand there are no advertisements on your lifeyo site and space/traffic limits doesn’t seem to exist.
I don’t expect that everything works properly on such a brand new service. There are still many things to improve:
I discovered these problems during my first hour on lifeyo so it can happen that i did a mistake or simply got it wrong.
Anyway, these are no giant bugs. Once after you learned your lesson it will be better. But especially for website beginners (who are lifeyo’s main audience if i’m right) it can be confusing and frustrating sometimes.
Don’t let me step too deep into the problems. What the small team from Newport Beach, CA, has created for you is really a cool thing.
Let’s say wordpress.com is much too overwhelming for you and tumblr.com seems to be too lean, then lifeyo.com could be the right thing for you.
The day will come when the bugs are gone and lifeyo grows up. Then people will start to talk about it… i recommend to register your name/company now before another one does.
Visit lifeyo.com here or view my site there.
PS: Another big plus because lifeyo.com is not made for Internet Explorer. That’s not the best idea for an internet startup – but a big step into the right direction. Rid the WWW of IE.
a very neat find indeed! thank you for sharing this *heads over to check it out in detail* =)
